Celebrating 80 years of Pony Club NSW in 2026!

February Rider of the Month

This month we are excited to shine the spotlight on Adelaide Conron, an inspiring 11-year-old allrounder from Grenfell Pony Club, Zone 2.

Adelaide has been riding for just three years, and in that short time has already made a big impact in the Pony Club world. Partnered with her pony Nulla for the past eight months, the combination has achieved some fantastic results.

🏆 Recent Highlights

Adelaide and Nulla have competed at:

  • Their first ISHE in Tamworth
  • Rankin Springs Pony Club Camp
  • Local gymkhanas
  • Eventing clinics

But her standout achievement so far was an incredible win at the Pony Club NSW State Showjumping Championships, where she was crowned Overall Champion E Grade Under 13 Years at Coonabarabran — a huge accomplishment after being together for just six months!

With big goals ahead, Adelaide and Nulla are now looking forward to competing at the 2026 Pony Club events at Sydney Royal this year.

💙 A Special Pony – Blue Boy

While Nulla is her current partner, Adelaide’s heart will always belong to her first “proper pony,” Blue Boy — a 12hh grey Welsh Mountain pony who is now 25 and enjoying retirement.

Blue Boy is described as:

  • Cheeky
  • Snuggly
  • A little sassy

On cold mornings he would “bronk and rear” when let out, pretending he was a silver brumby! If the feed room door was left open, he would happily wander in and stay there for hours. Even now, when arriving home from a show, he loads himself back onto the float to finish off the leftover hay — a true character!

🐑 A Memorable Moment

One of Adelaide’s most memorable riding moments shows her courage and compassion. While out trail riding with her mum Rachel and their Jack Russell, Flossy, they discovered a baby lamb stuck in a gate.

Adelaide quickly dismounted, carefully kept Flossy back, and rescued the lamb before returning it safely to its mum. To top it off, she remounted Nulla without a mounting block or leg-up — a true display of horsemanship and determination!

🌟 Looking Ahead

Adelaide dreams of becoming a 5 Eventer* one day, inspired by the kindness, patience and skill of Hannah Klep, who she admires greatly.

When she’s not riding, you’ll find her wake surfing at Wyangla Dam, enjoying a chicken wrap, and spending time with her favourite animal — horses, of course!

Adelaide represents everything Pony Club is about: determination, kindness, bravery and a love of horses. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented young rider and her pony Nulla.

Congratulations Adelaide! You are our February 2026 rider of the month, you have won a 12 Month Subscription for HorseWyse Magazine and some Pony Club NSW Merch 👏🐴
