Gear Checking Certificate Information

This certificate is designed for Pony Club Members sixteen years and over who have an interest in helping at Rally Days, competitions, camps etc. as gear checkers. Clubs must have a least one qualified Gear Checker or higher certificate holder on the grounds to run a Rally Day. Note: The rules for all approved / appropriate gear and uniform are available from the Pony Club NSW Rule Book (the Blue Book) under Section 7. 

Per the Gear Check Certificate requirements, all candidates will be required to attend at least one State run Instructors School OR Zone run Gear Checkers course that covers the aspects under “Practical Gear Check – Guidelines” here.

After successfully completing your exam, you will then need to complete a practical assessment with your Zone Chief Instructor before being awarded a Gear Check Certificate.

Pre-Requisites before you begin

  • You must be a current member of Pony Club
  • You must be 16 years of age or over to commence training
  • You must be 17 years of age or over to sit the assessment
  • You must hold a current WWCC (working with children’s check)
