The 2026 Sydney Royal Easter Show Pony Club classes were a fantastic success, with strong numbers across each class over the two days of competition. It was incredibly encouraging to see so many individual combinations, pairs and team entries taking part. The level of support shown this year has given both Pony Club NSW and the RAS team renewed hope for the future of this event, particularly as there had previously been discussion around whether the classes could continue if entry numbers did not improve.

It was also wonderful to see the return of the Rider in Action event, which once again attracted full classes for the second year running. This class has quickly become a valuable and well-supported part of the Sydney Royal Pony Club program, and its continued popularity is very exciting.

In 2026, the Horsemanship class replaced Showjumping. While this change was not by our choice, the class attracted far more entries than expected, which was very positive. However, it did run significantly over the allocated time, so this is something we will need to review with a focus on improving the format for 2027 to ensure it remains successful and workable for the RAS team.

We are incredibly honoured to be invited to take part in the Sydney Royal Easter Show each year. It is important to remember that this is not a Pony Club NSW event — we are privileged guests of the Royal Agricultural Society, and our place there should never be taken for granted. With that comes the responsibility for all riders, parents and supporters to represent Pony Club with respect, patience and professionalism at all times.

We strongly encourage all members to continue supporting this event in the years ahead. Strong entry numbers and positive behaviour from our Pony Club community are essential to ensuring these classes remain part of the Sydney Royal program for many generations to come.
