National Events

NATIONAL SENIOR MOUNTED GAMES CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • Held bi-annually at the PCA Nationals with all other disciplines. Riders must be 16 years and under 25 years in the year of competition. A squad of fifteen may be selected from nominations received as determined from time to time.

NATIONAL PRINCE PHILIP MOUNTED GAMES CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • Held annually with each state taking it in turns to host the event. Riders must be 16 years or under as at 1st January in the year of competition.
  • The New South Wales team is selected from the Mounted Games Training Squad.
  • Fifteen riders make up the squad and train once a month throughout the year in addition to putting on displays.
  • Ten riders are chosen at the State Mounted Games Championships or on specified Squad Selection dates to form the Squad.
  • Nominations are open to exceptional riders aged 12 years up to those riders turning 16 years during the year of competition and must hold a minimum ‘C’ certificate.

PONY CLUB NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • The disciplines of Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing, Tetrathlon and Mounted Games, are held every two years.
  • The first National Championships, “Towards 2000”, was held in 1995 at Wagga Wagga. The concept of a national championship was introduced after Sydney was granted the hosting rights of the 2000 Olympic Games to assist and encourage all Pony Clubbers to strive for their Olympic dreams. Since the inaugural event, National Championships have been held as follows;
    • 2019 – 7-13 October at Sydney International Equestrian Centre, New South Wales
    • 2017 – 16-23 September at Toowoomba Showgrounds, Queensland
    • 2015 – 29 September – 4 October at Murray Bridge Racecourse, South Australia
    • 2013 – 26-30 September at WA State Equestrian Centre, Brigadoon
    • 2011 – 26-1 October at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre, Victoria
    • 2009 – 12-18 July at Sydney International Equestrian Centre, New South Wales
    • 2007 – 1-8 July at Toowoomba, Queensland
    • 2005 – ‘Go West’ at Brigadoon, Western Australia
    • 2002 – ‘Beyond 2000’ at Roseworthy College, South Australia
    • 1999 – ‘The Final Countdown’ at Werribee, Victoria
    • 1997 – ‘One Step Closer’ at Roseworthy College, South Australia
    • 1995 – ‘Towards 2000’ at Wagga Wagga, New South Wales

2021 PONY CLUB AUSTRALIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

Expressions of interest are sought from National level riders for consideration for the 2021 Pony Club Nationals Team

DATE: Sunday 26th September to Saturday 2nd October 2021 
VENUE: Benalla Equestrian Reserve, VIC
DISCIPLINES: Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing, Tetrathlon, Quiz and Mounted Games.

Note:  The National Mounted Games will also be held however the NSW Junior team will be selected from the 2021 MG Squads – Selections for the Senior Mounted Games Team will be based on information provided in applications received.  

AGE GROUPS

Sub Juniors       10 years and Under 13 years as at 1st January 2021
Juniors              13 years and Under 17 years as at 1st January 2021 
Associates        17 years and under 26 years at 1st January 2021 
MG Juniors        Under 16 Years as at 1st January 2021
MG Seniors       16 Years and under 26 years as at 1st January 2021

Juniors            95 cm max. Cross country height
Associates      1.05 cm max. Ccross country height
Showjumping phase of eventing to be 5cm higher than cross country phase in each age group

Showjumping
Sub              Juniors Maximum start height 80cm
Juniors         Maximum start height 1.05m
Associates   Maximum start height 1.15m

Tetrathalon
Sub Juniors  Jumping Max start height 75cms, Pistol 7m, Swimming 100 to optimum time, Running 1000m to optimum time
Juniors         Jumping Max start height 85cms, Pistol 10m, Swimming 200 to optimum time, Running 2000m to optimum time
Associates   Jumping Max start height 95cms, Pistol 10m, Swimming 200 to optimum time, Running 3000m to optimum time

Quiz
Sub Juniors   D* and one level above
Juniors          C and one level above
Seniors         C* or K and above


SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

  • The applicant must have attended at least three rally days in the preceding 12 months.
  • The Club must recommend the applicant as being a suitable team member.
  • The ZCI must recommend the applicant as being of a suitable standard to attend a National Championship.
  • The applicant must be prepared to abide by all rules of the team manager and host state.
  • The applicant must be prepared to pay any associated costs of the competition. (Note: The Association will endeavour to assist all team members as much as possible with costs).
