Schools
Instructors Schools
State Instructors Schools are available for all zones to hold. Every zone must host at least one State Instructors school every two years. The aim of the schools is to educate any member 16 years and over, instructors and potential instructors to give them the opportunity to gain or improve their teaching skills, horsemanship skills, horse welfare and safety practices at Pony Club fixtures.
Also, these schools enable already accredited instructors to fulfil their accreditation update requirements. All instructors must attend a two day school within a four year period. Pony Club NSW has two accreditation schemes available, The NSW Bronze, Silver and Gold (NSWIA) and the National scheme the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).
These schools are funded by Pony Club NSW and are free to participants. Occasionally a zone may need to charge a fee for ground hire.
Regional Schools
Pony Club NSW provides high level coaching to riders in a number of disciplines. Zones may apply each year to host Regional schools in their zone.
There are two different categories:
Regional Schools are available in the disciplines of Dressage, Showjumping, Jumping Equitation, Combined Training, Campdrafting, Show Riding, Polocrosse and Tetrathlon. (Mounted Games is to be booked directly with the State Mounted Games Coach). These schools are conducted by Pony Club NSW State Coaches or their nominated assistants. To be eligible to attend, participants must be aged 10 years and under 25 years, have attained a ‘D’ certificate or above, have attended three rally days in the previous 12 months. For Showjumping schools, riders must be graded. The most experienced and higher graded riders must be given first preference and then if numbers allow other riders can be allowed to attend. eg. In Showjumping first acceptance should be given to A, B and C grade riders and if there are not enough then D and E grade riders can attend. If a zone does not have enough of their own rider’s they can then invite other zones to send riders.
Senior Regional Schools are conducted by Level 3 or 2 EA Instructors or EA National Coaches or their assistants and are for riders of above average ability in the particular discipline. Schools are available in the disciplines of Dressage, Eventing and Showjumping. Senior Regional Schools are for riders 13 years and under 25 and only A, B or C grade riders and if oversubscribed the higher grade riders must be given preference . To be eligible, participants must have attained their ‘C’ certificate and be a regular pony club member. Riders must come mounted on a horse suitable for this level and that their Club Senior Instructor or Zone Chief Instructor have seen them ride and have regarded suitable to receive advanced instruction.
The most experienced and higher graded riders must be given first preference and then if numbers allow other riders can be allowed to attend.
If the school is not fill by the applying zone adjoining Zones can be given the opportunity to send riders.
Each Zone can host two Regional Schools or one Regional and one Senior Regional School each year.
